Primary Schools
Our programmes are designed to help increase children’s activity levels, skills, and confidence by introducing them to new sports, and connecting them to their peers and local role models, including sports coaches and volunteers from our partners.
Fully inclusive, we have seen our programmes impact positively on the confidence and the engagement of even the least supposedly sporty kids. Few will go on to play professional sport, but all kids can have fun chasing a ball, dancing, or trying out a martial art (for example).
We work with primary schools from deprived communities across the UK and have reached over 97,000 children so far. We build long term partnerships with schools, and do our best work with kids when the relationships with staff are strong – they really are relationships worth investing in, on both sides.

“To have a whole class taking part in an event is amazing for us. Even the kids that think they are not so great, they enjoy taking part. Because they see other kids at their level their confidence grows.”
— Florin, Teacher, Lauriston Primary School
Outcomes for Primary Schools
Our FREE Community Programme takes place over one year, following your group of pupils from the start through all stages of the programme which is split into four sections:

Team Spirit Workshop
SportInspired will visit your school to get the children excited about the festival (yes, even those who don’t like sport!), and teach them all about team spirit. Activities include creating awesome team names, chants, and banners.

Multi-Sport Festival
Pupils will take part in a high-excitement, mixed-gender, mixed-ability, multi-sport festival where they sample six different sports available locally. Everything is set up to help ALL kids have maximum fun, and generate the best team spirit possible (rather than the usual focus on performance) throughout. The ultimate aim is for every pupil to be inspired to find a sport they enjoy and want to do again, available locally, so they are able to take it up long-term.

Legacy Sports Clubs
To convert the inspiration from the festival into action, we engage a local sports club from the festival of your choice to deliver 20 weeks of 1-hour coaching sessions in your school (for free!). This will be either before school, at lunchtime, or after school.

Surveys and Case Studies
To help our programmes be completely free for schools, it is important we demonstrate evidence of their success. We therefore monitor the children’s health, well-being, and confidence in class throughout the programme. This is done by collecting surveys from the teachers and all children involved before the festival, after the legacy club, at 3 and 6 months, plus case studies from 2-3 children are done at the same time.
Our award winning approach helps schools build on existing strengths and community assets to help meet and exceed OFSTED targets. In over 15 years we’ve helped more than 800 schools with our programmes, which we provide for free with thanks to support from businesses and local authority partners. SportInspired introduces children to a variety of sports and uses sport to:
build confidence and enhance resilience
improve physical and mental health
expose young children to inspiring role models
improve behaviour in schools, and
boost connection to their community
Secondary Schools
All young people have leadership potential, even if they don’t yet know it. Our Young Leaders programmes cultivate those that are confident, and embolden those that are shy, whilst allowing them to give back to their communities. We train “Young Leaders” in secondary schools in employability and leadership skills, and give them responsibility and opportunity to put their skills to practise by running our festivals. There is also an opportunity to train towards a sports leaders qualification.

Feedback from teachers indicates that students who participated in our Young Leaders programmes:
were communicating better
showed improved skills themselves
felt more confident
Sports Providers
The involvement of sports clubs, and in particular inspiring and energetic sports coaches, is a fundamental foundation of our programmes. At festivals, we enjoy the skills of a variety of coaches as they lead engaging sessions for kids of all abilities and characters. A key part of our programmes is sustainability, so the role of the sports providers extends beyond the one-off festivals and into funded sports clubs that are offered on an ongoing basis in primary schools across the UK or locally available sports clubs.
“SportInspired works as a great introduction to schools, in particular those in deprived areas, enabling us to demonstrate the benefits of sports and dance they like, so much so, that these schools often continue with the sessions when the funding runs out, and the feedback from both schools and children has been extremely positive.”
– Samuel Okikiolu, Director, First Kicks Sports Ltd
